Developing High Performing Virtual or Hybrid Teams

Many leaders find themselves confronted with the need to lead a virtual or hybrid team, often on short notice, and do not have the time to prepare themselves for the different type of leadership required. This happened during the pandemic and happens on a regular basis when leaders change jobs or their organization gets restructured. Often, leaders think first: “We have the technology (MS Teams, Zoom, etc.)!  What’s the problem?”. They soon notice, however, that team spirit generally weakens, team performance decreases, or conflicts arise, leading to lower commitment among team members. As a result, many leaders, and often whole organizations, insist that their employees go back to the company’s premises, which creates frustration among employees or even leads to resignations of some (generally the best talents).
